Why may you require a Driving License Medical Certificate

Passenger Endorsement: for example to be an Uber Driver

All people applying for or renewing a heavy vehicle licence.

Those who require a licence with endorsements for passengers: recovery services, driving instructors and testing officers.

Older drivers aged 75 or over.

Applicants with a medical condition that could have an effect on their ability to drive safely.

A medical certificate for a drivers licence may be requested at the discretion of the NZTA.
You may need to provide a medical certificate if you suffer from any of the following conditions:

Diabetes
-
High blood pressure
-
Cognitive impairment
-
Joint or limb problems
-
Strokes
-
Anxiety /mental health concerns
-
Seizures, fits, convulsions, epilepsy

Cerebral vascular disease
-
Serious injuries (head injury)
-
Visual disturbances
-
Any health concerns which might impede your ability to drive, including fatigue, mental disabilities and dementia.
You may need to provide a medical certificate if you suffer from any of the following conditions:

Please note that the assessment outcome may result in the determination that you are unfit to drive or that further evaluation by a specialist may be necessary
